San Marcos High School student organized pet food drive, collected 400 pounds in one week

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A San Marcos Substantial College scholar observed first-hand how appreciative people ended up to obtain pet food immediately after volunteering for C.A.R.E.4Paws’ cellular veterinary clinic, inspiring her to host a pet meals generate at her former elementary faculty.

Ava Vasquez, a freshman at San Marcos, labored directly with teachers at Vieja Valley Elementary Faculty to get all the learners on board for the pet food items drive and ended up raising 400 pounds of pet food stuff in just one 7 days, in accordance to Isabelle Gullo, C.A.R.E.4Paws Govt Director.

“During the pandemic, I have volunteered at C.A.R.E.4Paws’ cellular veterinary clinic, handing out pet meals,” Vasquez reported.

“I see how appreciative the family members are for the foods, so I assumed it would be a seriously great project to get other students involved to help families that want pet meals.”

Vasquez sent learners house with flyers to permit their mom and dad know about the push, and every classroom at the faculty experienced its have massive donation box that was donated by the Residence Depot in Lompoc, Gullo explained.

“We could not be much more grateful for Ava and the generosity of the students, mother and father, and teachers at Vieja Valley Elementary,” states Wendy Domanski, C.A.R.E.4Paws’ Local community Systems & Volunteer Coordinator, who assisted Vasquez get ready for the travel. 

“We’re also unbelievably grateful for our business enterprise and nonprofit companions for joining forces to guidance those people in require. Not to mention the hundreds of specific donors who have contributed meals and resources to support fellow neighborhood customers.”

C.A.R.E.4Paws serves much more than 20,000 pet family members in Santa Barbara County that need to have enable offering their animals with critical expert services such as veterinary care, spays, neuters, and pet food stuff, Gullo mentioned.
