Family Dog, Pit Bull Chihuahua Mix, Dies Protecting Colorado Family From Mountain Lion

A family members pet died a hero safeguarding four kids from a mountain lion in their backyard.

On June 14, Virginia Havens of Idaho Springs, Colorado, was cooking dinner while her kids, ages 11, 8, 7, and 4, played in the yard and their father, Daniel, cleaned the car or truck.

Idaho Springs Police Chief Nathan Buseck informed Now Mother and father that animal-on-animal attacks do not involve the use of lethal pressure, despite the fact that a responding officer was ready to shoot the lion with a rifle had the family members been in danger.

“Health professionals gave Lady soreness medication but she was whimpering uncontrollably,” reported an emotional Havens, introducing that she experienced ready her young children for Lady’s “owies.”

“The little ones ended up in a puddle of tears but seeing Girl like that also assisted them understand the explanation to enable her go,” reported Havens. “We mentioned goodbye and kissed Woman and thanked her.”

Havens explained park rangers educated her household that the lion wouldn’t likely return simply because it did not make a destroy.
